The tram is coming

So, it is another shitty, cold, rainy day here and since I didn't like the idea of riding my bike down to Willys, I decided to walk Elin to the Subway and do some shopping on the way back. I also had an ulterior motive for walking to ICA, and that was so I could take some photos of the new Tram line building up around our place.

A little off topic but just a quick photo of Elin when she found out I had the camera with me. Payback for posting that pic of me in bed on my birthday.

Anyway, back to the train. There is a new tram line been built, which will continue from the other train line around where we used to live, and travel all the way through our neighbourhood and continue to Solna. You can read some more here: Swedish and googleish
Not sure if you can make it out but the new tram line will go straight past lotta's house and over the little bridge you guys walked over on the way to the Sundyberg. Well.... not exactly over the same bridge because they are going to build another little bridge just for the Tram. And hence the ideas for blog and some photos.

Initially my greeny background, and the added value this would give our flat, made all in favour of the idea but then I realized that they would be chopping down all the trees out front of lottas place and along the water there. That changed my mind a little. However, after the chopping of the trees I can see something else happen here. With the new apartments on the other side of the water and no tree line to block them from view, the entire area is starting to look fresher.
Its starting to remind me more of our old neighbourhood and I'm more that sure this will positively affect our apartments value.

To sum up, I was for it then changed to be against it and now I am again for it. Plus we kind of got a water view out of it too!

Photos: Me and Elin just leaving out place
From the traffic lights, you might have to get an old photo out but there was plenty of trees on the other side of the road. the was even a really big willo hanging over the brigde and covering that entire brick building.
Turning to me right, thats lottas place down on the left and they had a row of berches infront of the place. The Tram will now go right infront of them, hopfully with a stop.

Taken from the bridge looking down at lotta's place. I think the timber structures are where they will building the fondations for the new bridge, there is a height difference so it must start to raise up gentle. Along the water you can see the old tree stumps. Plus you can really see the new fresh buildings on the other side.

and again.
another view, not the nicest but we don't face that way to much, hehe.
and the possible water view from our place now.

Great blog Jim! We remember the area very well and the Willow tree that used to overhang the footpath. It has certainly opened up the area and we look forward to updates. Shame about the Birches but that's progress!!
