Christmas 2008

Another Christmas has passed and we spent it in Stockholm this year. The day before Christmas eve we were all invited to mom and Ulf; Jim, David, me, Jessica and Therese (Ulf´s daughters). Jessica is studing psychology in the university town of Linköping. Therese, just like me, are about to graduate in January, her major being international economy. We don´t see eachother often so it´s always good to catch up.
We have a standing joke amongs us that comes from Jim´s first Christmas he spent in Sweden, when he was shift working and slept through the whole Christmas. (He is not sleeping here, but we always joke about it).

Unfortunatly we didn´t get any snow for Christmas this year. We did however get some sub zero temperature, hence the frost on the ground.

On Christmas eve we went back to mom and Ulf. Therese and Jessica left for their mom so it was only the five of us during the evening. Here we are preparing for the dinner with sill (herring), salmon, ham, meatballs, sausage, ribs and potatoes. Yummy!
And the snaps (shots) of course, after the snaps songs have been sung.

After dinner it was time for opening presents. We started by giving Ulf a blinking and singing Christmas tie that he kept on for the rest of the evening. It matched the santa hat he was wearing.

David got a man bag! Very cool.

Thank you for all the aussie presents! We really liked this one. We know you probably recorded a message for us, but unfortunatly I recorded something on it before we had the chance to listen to it. Sorry! We thought about it after I had already used it. It´s a really clever thing though.

On Christmas day we were ready for a new day of eating and opening presents, and eating some more. We went to dad and Agneta and their new addition - Molly. Again a cold and clear day but no proper snow. This is outside our house, walking to the train station, passing Lotta and Fredriks house on the way.

Molly is a Jack russel dog. She is only eight weeks old and really small and behaves just like a baby. She slept about four times during our stay, and also played a lot of course. A real cutie!

In the evening we went back to mom and Ulf to say hi to Sara and Markus, and their parents, Per and Christine. Since Sara is studying in Linköping we hadn´t seen each other since Markus´ birthday party 1st of November. They were all well. Sara have a new short hair cut and have also changed the colour, looks really good. Markus told us he were just about to move in to a new apartment in town with his girlfriend Linda. He studies economy as well and will finish in summer.

Christmas is all about family and friends. The next day we were invited to Lotta and Fredrik to have Christmas food (again!). Here Lotta is heating up glögg (hot wine with spices, that we drink before and around Christmas). Lotta and Fredrik are well also. Lotta works at a swedish make up company called Oriflames as a financhial analyst. Fredrik quite resently started working for Samsung. (And they still haven´t bought a flat screen television! haha)

Jim and I had decided that our Christmas present for each other would be a new bed. So off we went to IKEA and got ourselves just that. We also found a nice, small shop in our neighbourhood, Sundbyberg, selling paintings, so we bought two.

We´ve had a great Christmas with lots of food and catching up with friends and family. Next we are heading up a few hours north to Ljusdal to celebrate New year with Sara and Frank and their friends and family.
To be continued...

thanks for sharing your Christmas. I love all the photos. Molly looks so cute, shame she isn't a cat :)
So don't suppose you guys want to come to my 40th birthday party tomorrow?
